The f16 is about the smallest cheapest most common fighter aircraft in the world. The company is multinational. The USA isn't even the only country which produces them. There are about 5000 of them between about 25 countries. Almost a half dozen countries have the capacity to turn around and start pumping out hundreds more each per year. They can further mobilize and bring that to a thousand each per year if necessary. That's what this whole press hype has been all about. It's not about giving Ukraine a couple pea shooters that some commentators who blow everything out of position will take to the extreme as usual. It's been signaling to the allies for months that it's time to start throwing at their old junky f16s as an excuse to ramp up the infrastructure to bring their production not only back online, but into overdrive. If the would has 5000 f16s and almost never loses any, that's not good for business for the manufacturer. Just like you, they're hoping for more chaos and disorder because it's good for "pepper" business. With Ukraine ramped up enough to get away with throwing them away (to Ukraine as a loan) it means their own stockpile dwindles so they turn the factories back on to replace them. And might as well make a million more while the factories are already back online. So it's not about junking NATOs oldest few dozen f16s. It's about enabling the production of boundless more.
